Our story

The Restonstrong twins as they are fondly known, Sonja and Shanne met at the Reston YMCA during our Restonstrong Sunday FREE Market. The hardworking 15yr olds who dedicated their Sundays to serving our neighbors discovered by chance that they were born on the SAME DAY, SAME MONTH of the SAME YEAR. 10/11/2009.

Seeing a need in the community - the BFFs started working together to create the Reston Remakery. Supported by fellow teens and a few preteens, they embarked on the journey to fundraise, design and create a safe and welcoming space for all. Raising over $45000 in under a month through donor calls the team has been working religiously with their mentors and partners to make the dream a reality.
